Posted December 27, 2016. I was recently talking to two friends about a whats the difference between full system exhausts vs just slip on's. One said the slip on just makes it louder and you will need a full system to get any extra hp while the other said just the slip on will add extra hp. While both friends have 5+ years with dirt bikes so I The KLX is shorter wheelbase and probably steeper forks and that hurts it on the faster stuff. Also the forks and shock are not as good and that shows itself at the higher speeds as well. The WR250F has the high speed damping adjustment, I wonder if any of those damping kits will fit a KLX so it would have that too. My XR had a lot better throttle response. The KLX is just a more modern bike then the XR from the cooling to the suspension. There is actually a shootout somewhere on the internet between the two plus the 250 DRZ. It comes down to the XR but the XR and the KLX were real close. Try to search for it. But again, the 250S is much heavier than the KDX200 or the KLX300. And the 09 250S is heavier still. My '07 250S is roughly 260lbs and the '09 is 277lbs both dry. That's 55lbs heavier than the KDX and 45lbs heavier than the KLX300 (if you believe the specs which some people crap on).
